Sessions arranged at a location, date and time to suit you!

 

Group of 4 to 5 people - £35 per person

Group of 6 to 8 people - £30 per person

Group of 9 to 10 people - £25 per person

Groups of 11 or more - please enquire

If you can’t get a large enough group together, simply register your interest and we’ll try to
team you up with others and run a session to suit you all.

LOCATIONS

MORETON IN MARSH, GLOUCESTERSHIRE
A hidden gem, not far from Moreton in Marsh, this large SSSI woodland is enjoyed by a select few and offers a unique opportunity to really immerse yourself in bushcraft in this purely woodland environment.  Home to rich diversity of flora and fauna, this woodland also plays host to  rare orchids and the Wood White butterfly, all thanks to the careful management and dedication of the landowner.  The broad selection of trees and plants provide a haven for nature and great opportunities for bushcraft and nature activities.  Easily accessible via main routes, including a train station at Moreton in Marsh, but offering complete seclusion in the heart of this wonderful woodland. 

CIRENCESTER, GLOUCESTERSHIRE
This is a lovely setting on a large Organic South Cotswolds farm, offering great diversity because of its Organic status and the careful management of the land owner.  Easily accessible from, though not disturbed by, M5 and M4 motorways via the A417 dual carriageway and also via the main Fosse Way A429. The site is blessed with diverse flora and fauna in its woodland and pastureland environmentsNot only is the farm beautiful and diverse in its landscape and nature, but you also have the opportunity to visit their award winning Organic Cafe to enjoy a wonderful lunch or just to sample their delicious tea and cakes.  With Sunday lunches now also available, what could be a better way to spend your hard earned time off than with a half day fire workshop and fabulous Organic lunch, or stock up on your shopping in their fantastically well stocked Organic shop?  To take a closer look at the farm, click on "The Organic Farm Shop" on the links page.

Perhaps you know the owner of a local woodland or have access to an area used by Scout or Guide Groups, or you're staying in a holiday cottage with an area of woodland within its boundaries?  Subject to suitability, we can run our bushcraft and nature awareness activities
at any location to suit you - the costs outlined above will give you a guide, but may increase slightly dependent upon the time and distance we need to travel to reach your location.  Please enquire

Either 9am to 12.45pm (including 15 minute mid morning break) or 2pm to 5.45pm (including 15 minute mid afternoon break).

Please arrive 15 minutes before your activity is due to begin.

Course content

This activity offers an introduction to ancient and modern techniques of fire lighting.  For a more in depth activity, including crafting your own bow drill set for fire by friction, please click here.  The subjects covered in this half day workshop include:-

  • The need for fire;
  • Fire and the law;
  • Fire safety;
  • Fire management and minimal impact - leave no trace;
  • Firewood selection;
  • Fire lays for different uses:
  • Sources of ignition;
  • Natural and manmade tinder;
  • Lighting a fire in the outdoors;
  • Fire by friction.

Please bring drinks and snacks with you. 

As with all of our courses, the activities take place in the outdoors, although we do erect a parachute for shelter if necessary.

 

BOOKING & PAYMENT 

Please contact us to confirm availability either by telephone or email.  If you confirm that you are going to book we will email or post a booking form to you and provisionally reserve your places on the activity for 72 hours, to allow time for receipt of your booking form and payment.

Payment can be made by cheque or credit card (via Paypal - by prior arrangement and incurring a 3.4% levy).
