Manufactured for four generations by the Kelly family in the west coast of Ireland and now sold all over the world.  These kettles are also known as volcano or storm kettles.

How it Works
A Kelly Kettle / Volcano Kettle will boil water in 3 to 5 minutes depending on the fuel you're using.
Made from aluminium, it is essentially a double-walled chimney with the water contained in the chimney wall.

Once the kettle is filled with water and a very small fire is set in the base with the kettle on top and additional fuel dropped down the chimney, the large internal surface area of the chimney heats the water very quickly.

How to use
Kelly Kettle recommend you follow the following 5 steps when using your Kettle:

Remove base from the bottom of the kettle and place the base on level ground – flat side down. Fill base with combustible material such as newspaper, dry grass or very small tinder. Remove protective cork from kettle and fill kettle with water. Do not replace the cork. Then place the kettle securely on the base. Light fire through the hole(s) in side of the base and face into wind for extra draught if required. Insert additional fuel through the chimney (use small twigs for best results). When the water boils, hold the handle at a 90° angle to the body of the Kettle – then lift Kettle clear of the base. Use handle and chain to tilt for pouring. If additional water is required, simply refill the kettle with water and place it back on the base when the fire is still burning. Refill the chimney with fuel and you can look forward to a second kettle full of boiling water within a matter of minutes

.NOTE:

1. Always remove the cork before lighting the kettle. The cork is only to be used for transporting cold water.
2. Never hold the handle above the chimney when the kettle is lit.
3. Always keep children away from the kettle when in use.
4. Use surplus water to extinguish fire.

The cook set can be used in two ways:

1. When the Kettle boils (assuming you want boiling water), remove the kettle from fire base.
Place the grill pieces onto the fire-base and then simply place your Pot/Pan on the Grill pieces for cooking,
adding additional fuel to the fire base as required. Fuel can be inserted through the air hole in the side of the base.

2. Either pan can be placed onto a Pot Support (for sale below).

KELLY KETTLE POT SUPPORT FOR 2.5 PINT KETTLE

Enjoy cost free, Carbon Neutral cooking outdoors, using whatever natural fuels are available, while your kettle boils.

This Pot Support® lets you place the Kelly Cook Set on top of the 2.5 pint volcano kettle as your water boils,
thereby harnessing all the heat that is generated in the chimney and ensuring maximum time and fuel efficiency.

Even in a storm the Kettle works remarkably well - hence the pot support allows an element of cooking even in extremely harsh weather conditions.

If more fuel is required as you cook/boil up, simply remove your pot/pan using the gripper handle (in the cook set)
and feed additional fuel through the pot support - no need to remove the support from the chimney for refuelling.
Please note, as the heat is intense, you will need to stir your food regularly.

When you have finished cooking, allow time for the pot-support to cool.
Then it can be disassembled, flat packed and inserted up the chimney of the kettle for transport.

Ideal for fast cooking items such as noodles, rice, oatmeal, soup, rehydrating food, reheating etc.

Note : Always fill the kettle with water whether you need boiling water or not!
