NEW ARCHERY LOCATION GETS “THUMBS UP”

Broad Marston ArcheryEaster Weekend 2008 saw our first archery event at Broad Marston in Warwickshire with 100% positive feedback for both the activity and the location.  Here is just a sample of the glowing feedback we received:-

Superbly organised, fun and in a lovely setting.
Duncan is brilliant at what he does, a natural teacher.”

“Everything was fantastic, nothing needed to change.”

“Best day out I’ve had for a long time.”

“It was all great. Good fun and interesting.”

“Brilliant!!”

“Fantastic fun, informative, well set out & well explained.”

“Very enjoyable.”

“Wished it was longer! Brilliant.”

The archery field is in a beautiful setting bordered by woodland in this pretty village lying just to the west of Mickleton, a lovely Cotswold village and home of the world famous Pudding Club at The Three Ways House Hotel.

Also new for this year is a change to the duration and price for the event, costing just £25 per head for two hours of archery instruction and with a great deal of fun thrown in for free! Having said that, all who came along were having such a good time they wanted to keep going, so if you would like a longer session please ask.

Why not come and join us on another scheduled event, or enquire about a date to suit you. Even if you don’t have sufficient numbers for us to run an event just for you, we may be able to team you up with others who can’t make it for the set dates. Why not consider an archery activity for a birthday celebration?

Booking is essential as places are limited, but don’t be put off as we will run additional sessions to accommodate you and all the others who will no doubt be queuing up to take part!

Taking aim...Luke Newman, 10, tries his hand at archery with guidance from Duncan Macleod-Rhodes during a workshop at the Organic Farm in Cirencester

AN ARCHERY event aimed at introducing youngsters to the sport was held at Abbey Home Farm in Cirencester on Saturday.

It was a taster course organised by Wild Connections, an outdoor pursuits centre based at the organic farm that teaches bushcraft and nature awareness to anyone aged eight and above.

Ten-year-old Luke Newman (pictured), whose father works at the farm, quickly picked up the skill and hit the outer ring with his first arrow.

Wild Connections founder Duncan Macleod-Rhodes was on hand to offer instruction.

"My intention is that by offering fun and education activities in the outdoors more people will be drawn to spend time in the beautiful countryside all around us," he said.

"Once people begin to enjoy and appreciate what nature has to offer their awareness and desire to protect it naturally increases."

The bushcraft course involves learning ancient survival skills such as firecraft, tracking and shelter building. A bushcraft event will be taking place at the farm on Saturday July 14. To find out more telephone 01608 682769 or visit www.wildconnections.co.uk
